I have created a role where users are given full access to some tcodes like sm50,rsa1, sm37, so on but for Tcode se09 and se10, I only want to give the users display and change access.

if I change ACTIVITY of S_TCODE removing *, it will effect all t-codes, please help me in how can I achieve  this..

We have ERP system SAP NW 7,31 SP 05. Our Platform is AS/400 and The Database Is DB2.

We are facing performance issues with the STMS transaction it takes 5Min to refresh and alot time to import, and even more in the busy hours of the system.

My Questions are :

1- is there any tips to fine tune the performance of the STMS ?

2- Our Dev system have over 400 requests that already have been imported in the PRO system, if i delete them from DEV queue

will it effect the PRO system ?

And if you know any tips or tricks please share with me

Hi experts,

It seems that with SWPM the good old tip of changing [CDATA[ERROR]] to [CDATA[OK]] to bypass an error is not available anymore.

On a failed step I was not able to find a [CDATA[ERROR]] tag in the keydb.xml file.

Did you notice the same behavior, does anyone find what is the new tag for error ?

I have two different system a server. One of them is SAP ERP (ABAP) and the other is SAP Portal. When i click on SAP MMC at first two system was shown. But after a while Portal SID is disappearing. Only the SAP ERP system and its instance are listed at the console.

So, while the portal sid had been appearing, i quickly tried to start the system but i could not. I tried command line to start SAP Portal Netweaver. Then i was not successful again.

An way my portal system is not working. What can i do to see SID at SAP MMC permanently or at least to start portal system.

We're creating a Web Service Proxy by using a WSDL of an external service. We can secure the connection by using SSL client auth. Nevertheless we cannot verify the server certificate because the section of the Server Certificates of the runtime configuration within the Visual Admin is disabled (rest of the page is working well - see here for a working example). How can I enable it?

Dear All,

We have configured SNC at Server level in SAP ABAP Application Server. System is up and running and we are able to connect from SAP GUI by activating SNC Option in GUI Logon. To activate SNC in SAP GUI front end we copied SAPSNCS.PSE file from server to front end PC and created credential file named cred_v2 using sapgenpse tool .

In our case there are other SAP ABAP Application server in which SNC is activated,for which same credential file needs to be created to access the same from SAP GUI. By doing this it will overwrite the existing cred_v2 file in front end PC  and will not be able to login to ABAP server.

Need your views on these such type of configuration.What is the best way to configure SNC between SAP GUI and SAP ABAP Servers.

Any idea on how to overcome this?

Since yesterday our SapNetweaver based Enterprise Portal has a huge delayed start. Normally it takes about 10min until the system is up & running.

Now it takes about 2 hours.

System: NetWeaver 7.30 SP8 on HPUX

In the Log dev_server0 are only garbage collection or some CMS entries between State changed from 2 (Starting framework) to 10 (Starting apps) and State changed from 10 (Starting apps) to 3 (Running).

No other log in /usr/sap/SID/InstanceNr/work directory is written while the systems starts (except for std_server0.out and available.log)

The default respectively the application log in /usr/sap/SID/Nr/j2ee/cluster/server0/log are not really helpful.

So has anyone a idea or a hint where i can find a useful entry in a log?

I've written my own JMX client to pull data from MBean Server using instruction from Connecting to an MBeanServer - SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment Library - SAP Library. Client is connecting to server every 5 minutes. After some time I noticed that Active Session Count is rising. Also when checking Login Sessions in VA I see multiple sessions for username provided in JMX client configuration.

My understanding of this situation is that I initiate new session using RMI-P4 connector, but never terminate it which leaves opened sessions on the server.

My question is, is ther a way to close connection to MBeanServer?

Dear experts,

I am doing a Java refresh from our production to our development system.

I have first restored the oracle 11 database. As it is NetWeaver 7.3 EHP1, it

should be possible to do a refresh or system copy using the backup/restore

method, which according to SAP is supported for v. 7.3.

Afterwards, I started SWPM for NetWeaver 7.3 in order to do a target system

installation, in order to manage the mess with the java IDs.

Though this installation is asking for a file, named CONTROLSQL or CONTROL.SQL

(both names are mentioned in different parts of the same screen!! How

confusing, dear SAP !!!)

Then at the bottom of this infamous window, there is an explanation, that the file

is being created during the source system export preparation.

Grrr, fine!! I went to the source system, inflated quickly another SWPM there, did

the export preparation and... GUESS WHAT !! No CONTROLSQL or CONTROL.SQL

file!! Nor in the install directory (which I have separate - not /tmp), neither in the

export location. And I even searched in /tmp and nothing like this !!

Now I am exporting the entire source system while it is running !! (can't shutdown

the production!). Where is this file pleasseeeeee...???

I have done the same procedure on another project with MSSQL Server and it

went flawlessly without any control sql-files!!

I am executing an EHP1 update of a NW7.0 system using SUM 1.0 sp5 (latest available version).

The upgrade has stopped in roadmap "Execution" phase "MAIN_NEWBAS/TABIM_UPG" with the error messages shown below.

I suspect this is related to the RTLPOSDM addon which is separated from BI_CONT as of 7.07.

I can see that all tables in namespace /POSDW are gone in the upgraded system while they exist in the original.

Earlier we had the choice of either upgrading BI_CONT to 7.07 with addon RTLPOSDM or keeping BI_CONT 7.03.

Since we don't have a license for using the RTLPOSDM addon (and since we actually don't use the functionality) we choose the latter option.

Has anyone else had this issue or do anyone have any input on this ?

The upgrade is now stuck and we've created an OSS message.

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to list all the undeployment options available to undeploy .SDA (Software deployment Archive) and similar files on SAP J2EE servers Netweaver release: 7.1/7.2/7.3 and the upcoming 7.4 version. For a similar knowledge base article for the deployment of these components, check SAP KBA document : http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1715441.

In earlier SAP releases (version 6.40 and 7.00) the Software Deployment manager (SDM) tool could have been easily used for this. However, it has depreciated in the latter releases.

Option 1

The best option to use is the J2EE TELNET "UNDEPLOY" command.

1) Open telnet connection and run the below commands:

> lsc (to list the available server nodes)

> jump <server node> (usually jump 0)

> add deploy

> undeploy -h (to get the command syntax. For more information, check http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/TechTSG/(JSTSG)(Telnet)DeployController+Commands

If you wish to undeploy multiple SDAs , use the "list" option to supply an XML file as argument. Here is the syntax to run that command from telnet:

undeploy list=D:\usr\sap\UndeployItems.xml

on_undeploy_error=skip_depending on_prerequisite_error=skip_depending

NOTE: This will not calculate the dependencies though. Once all the SDAs related to the SCA are removed, then the "undeploy_empty_sca" command can be used to delete the empty SCA from the server.
This is extremely useful in cases where the SCA in question has many SDAs, like the GP-CORE SCA that has more than 102 deployed components and undeploying one by one can be a cumbersome affair.

Option 2

The Netweaver Developer Studio undeploy view can also be used to this purpose. Firstly navigate to NWDS -> window -> preferences and maintain the j2ee server details:

Now open the undeploy view by clicking on Window -> show view -> other

and select the undeploy view:

Once this is done, you can select the DC components that are part of the SCAs that need to be undeployed. It is also possible to select the whole SCA file using this technique:

Option 3

The guiconsole.bat in the location /usr/sap/<SID>/J<nr>/j2ee/console is a script that will inturn open the telnet application and you can commence undeployment as mentioned in option 1.

ANT scripts can be used for undeployment of SDAs. For more information on this, check: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce711/helpdata/en/46/150746f21914dce10000000a155369/content.htm.

NOTE: Undeployment as such is not supported and should be used only in cases where the SAP Basis admin is well versed with the system landscape and the repercussions of this activity very well. If unknowingly a component is deployed, the best option would be to restore the system to the previous state it was before the deployment was triggered. Hence, you should always take a full offline backup before commencing deployment.

I am refreshing our BW system, which has ABAP and Java with separate SIDs and separate DBs,

NetWeaver 7.3 EHP1, the DB is oracle 11. Java is using ABAPs UME.

The ABAP part went without any trouble. For Java, I have exported the source system, as I have

read in the system copy guide, that only offline backup is supported for system copy.

Though after importing the system with the latest SWPM, it is not starting, I have the following error

in log_bootstrap.0.log:

i need a small guidance from you all. I am going to activate the package LOG_MM_MAA_1 in one of our client. Well i am aware of what the business function does in procurement.  What i want is before activating the package  i have to select BUSINESS FUNCTION SET which tells what is the industry type.

My first observation is my industry sector is IT/BPO services. So for that when i check down the drop down list i cannot find any such industry sector. I can find IS media where i have activated it before in some of my client. But here i do not have the sector type.

• My first question is what if i do not select the industry type and simply activate the package?
• What implication it will have?

1. I think auditors might ask why it is not activated specific to business sector type?

• Do i have to configure the industry type any where so that it comes in the drop down list.

I have a requirement to change the user I recieve if calling the method UMFactory.getAuthenticator().getLoggedInUser() ar runtime in my servlet deployed to SAP NW AS Java. I know it sounds weird, but please trust me, that I need it really (i.e. bad design etc. are already taken in account)  .

I.e. I need following: I have a servlet, which will be called in the context of user A. Then I have to do some work, let's say: Method X -> Method Y -> Method Z

What I want to do is to call the method Y in the context of the User B (= UMFactory.getAutneticator().getLoggedInUser() == User B). Is there a possibility to do this?

One approach is only come to my mind is to transfer the code of method Y in a separate servlet and call it from my original servlet with other authentication information....But this approach is as weird as the question itself (performance etc.) .

Do anybody knows the better approach?

I have seen the bad block error entry in event viewer on Server.

Server configuration as follows...

Windows server 2008 R2.

ECC 6.0

IBM DB2 9.7

Its a development system.

We have faced same issue on same server 4 months ago, that time I have recovered that bad sector via CHKDSK /f /r command and then after that recover the database, so after that there is no any error entry in event viewer about bad block and etc.

But today again same error occurs, please suggest me how should I proceed now?
