Upgrade hangs in phase PREP_SPACECALC/EU_IMPSPC

Dear upgrade-gurus

I'm upgrading a sandbox system from NW701 to NW73. But unfortunately the upgrade hangs in phase PREP_SPACECALC/EU_IMPSPC

Ther is no logfile written in /usr/sap/SID/SUM/abap/log. TOP shows SAPup running like hell, but nothing happens! I restarted upgrade process and repeated the phase, but nothing changed.

ls -ltr on /usr/sap/SID/SUM/abap/log shows:

IcmAcceptClient: server overload: conn: 500 - accept delayed

I am using a NetWeaver AS Java 7.40 8 node cluster to test out some demanding processing and when doing so I noticed I begin to see some sluggish response times with our web application and via SAP NetWeaver Administrator. I feel like we may have too many concurrent HTTP requests going on. As a result, I am trying to figure out how to confirm this or tweak the timeout NetWeaver permits by default for requests and/or tweak the number of requests that can be handled at once.

Also, I am seeing issues in the SAP Web Administration Interface’s Core System’s Trace section with overloads. Please see the following for a snippet of the warnings I'm seeing.

What do these mean and how can they be addressed?

I am interested in trying to tweak some timeout properties or maybe the number of requests that can be handled by the dispatcher. How do I get to the following tool:

•    http://help.sap.com/SAPHELP_470/Helpdata/EN/ac/8f813a34872769e10000000a114084/content.htm

The SAP Web Administration Interface seems similar, but does not allow me to “administer” the ICM in anyway it appears. How do I launch this tool?

Section 2.1 of the the following link describes dealing with timeout issues via the transaction code SMICM tool? What is this and how do I launch this tool in NetWeaver 7.40 AS Java (I have been told that this tool is possibly only available to ABAP systems?)?

•    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c059d583-a551-2c10-e095-eb5d95e03747?overridelayout=true

Also, I found this article that describes the round robin load balancing used by the web dispatcher. Would this need to be tweaked possibly?

•    http://help.sap.com/SAPHELP_NW70EHP3/helpdata/EN/48/99C3D999273987E10000000A421937/content.htm

Any assistance on troubleshooting either the database connection pooling problem or what appears to be a “too many requests” problem for the dispatcher would be greatly appreciated!

Hello friends,

I'm doing an upgrade to EHP7 in Linux/Oracle. I am currently facing an error in the START_SHDI_PREPUT! phase. Shadow instance fails to start. I have setup SSFS in both original and shadow system.

Severe error(s) occurred in phase MAIN_SHDPREPUT/START_SHDI_PREPUT!

Last error code set: Shadow instance couldn't be started, check 'STARTSSC.LOG' and 'DEVTRACE.LOG': Process /usr/SUM/SUM/abap/exe/sapcontrol exited with 2, see '/usr/SUM/SUM/abap/log/SAPup.ECO' for details

I just install SAP NetWeaver 7.02 SP7 64 bit Application Server ABAP Trial Version and when I am going to create a Z program it is asking me for an ACCESS KEY for the user BCUSER.

Can you tell me where I can find the ACCESS KEY for BCUSER and not the DEVELOPER KEY which is included in the strart.html?

Please answer me the soonest possible

License key for system SAP-INTERN?

$

I finally succeeded installing the Sneak preview 7.02 for 64-bit windows 7, but I cannot get the license key to work. Have retrieved it from the license key web page, but the file (for SID NSP) refers to installationDEMOSYSTEM, whereas my installation shows installation number to be SAP-INTERN... how is this possible?

I've tried requesting the license keys for both NSP and NPL, but in both cases the installation in the file is DEMOSYSTEM. My system stubbornly states it is called SAP-INTERN... any solutions?

Hi

I am installing solman 7.1 SR1, and in the 26th step Start Instance it gives following error -

An error occurred while processing option SAP Solution Manager 7.1 Support Release 1 > SAP Systems > MaxDB > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step: ABAP processes of instance XXX/DVEBMGS00 [ABAP: UNKNOWN] did not start after 10:10 minutes. Giving up.). You can now:

  • Choose Retry to repeat the current step.
  • Choose Log Files to get more information about the error.
  • Stop the option and continue with it later.

Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/SOLMAN71/SYSTEM/ADA/CENTRAL/AS.

While investigating through logs I found below mentioned details -

SAP Web Dispatcher as Reverse Proxy

$

Dear Expert,

I need some advise with regards to my current project.

Right now, I am configuring my SAP landscape which consist of 2 NetWeaver EP, 1 ECC & 1 BI system.

I would like to streamline all system access using SAP Web Dispatcher, meaning, all access will be via the Enterprise Portal without SAP GUI.

Customer requirement is to have their own URL for each of the Enterprise Portal.

From my understanding and reading of installation guide, the URL of the Web Dispatcher is usually, http://<web-dispatcher-hostname>.domain:<port>

Is there any way I can configure the SAP Web Dispatcher to allow using to use their own URL i.e. http://companyname.com to access the Web Dispatcher and from Web Dispatcher to the backend system? Some thing like what a Reverse Proxy can do.

I research online, that SAP Web Dispatcher can be configured as a Reverse Proxy. But the research yield no result as to how to change the URL to the customer company name.

Further research show that in order to achieve this, I need a Reverse Proxy, most commonly used, Apache.

Is Apache really needed in my scenario in-order to fit customer requirement?

Need your kind advise on my requirement.

Thank you.

Hello All!

We are currently at NW7.40 CRM EHP3 SPS02. I'm using the SUM SP09 to get to CRM EHP SPS03.

XPRAs are application reports that run at the end of an upgrade.

Most XPRA reports have a report documentation that explains what

the report does and how errors can be corrected.

Call transaction se38 in the SAP system, enter the report name,

select 'Documentation' and click the 'Display' button.

I found a few notes that dance around the issue:

1665940 - Installing/Updating SAP CTS Plug-In 2.0

1825812 - Application not available; contact SAP

They both mention an activation error.

I was able to log in to CDM:000 as DDIC.

I attempted to run SA38 program /CTSPLUG/CTS_ACTIVATION

but then I see the error "Update transport tools tp and R3trans"

But we are at the absolute latest versions of TP/R3trans for 721EXT

The most interesting thing to me, is that we're not even really

updating CTS_PLUG 200 0010 SAPK-20010INCTSPLUG

We're already at 200 Patch 0010. We were before we started these

patches, and yet, that seems to be where I'm stuck.

I fully read this note, but there's no mention of my specific error:

1843776 - Central Note - Software Update Manager 1.0 SP09

I'm going to open an incident too, but was hoping someone had come across this.

THanks, as always,

Open SQL Data Browser Permission Error

Hi,

I am trying to use the Open SQL Data Browser to see data in tables that have been deployed through a DC. I have tried to implement UME Action permissions to give me access (as described in Open SQL Data Browser error User is not authorized to read table and Using Open SQL Data Browser - SAP NetWeaver Administrator - SAP Library) but I cannot get my UME DC to deploy... When I try to deploy it has an exception that refers to the message "Permission class missing".

This is what the action file looks like:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?><BUSINESSSERVICE>    <ACTION         NAME="VendorTablesRead">        <DESCRIPTION             LOCALE="en"             VALUE="Access to read vendor tables in Open SQL Browser"/>            <PERMISSION class="com.sap.sql.itsam.databrowser.permission.DataBrowserPermission" NAME="ReadTables" VALUE="VEND_*" />    </ACTION></BUSINESSSERVICE>

Here is the full exception message - please let me know what I am doing wrong so that I can resolve this - it will be much appreciated!!

Hello all,

We are trying to apply SP's using SUM in our PI (7.1 ehp1) on windows OS. When starting SUM using the STARTUP.BAT , we are getting the following error.:

E:\usr\sap\SXA\SUM>STARTUP.BAT

SAP directory - E:\usr\sap

Directory of the SAP system JE-E:\usr\sap\JE- does not exist.

E:\usr\sap\SXA\SUM>

There is no directory JE in /user/sa/.

We are using the latest SUM version.

Any Idea?

Thanks for any help

SAP Biller Direct: Set-up LDAP fields for use with UME

$

When setting up UME with external LDAP for using SAP Biller Direct, new LDAP fields were added (see appendix 1), but how to link these fields with the parameters added in the j2ee admin tool (see appendix 2)?

The current situation is that even when the parameter name is the same as the LDAP field name, the value that is added from LDAP is not shown up on UME additional tab for Biller Direct (customized information)

What is the correct set-up of the LDAP fields to allow the UME to pick-up values from the LDAP fields (see appendix 4 and 5 for java classes)?

Appendix 1:

<attribute name="fscm_refuser">

     <physicalAttribute name="sapBillerDirectFscmRefuser"/>

</attribute>

<attribute name="objtype_0">

     <physicalAttribute name="sapBillerDirectObjType"/>

</attribute>

<attribute name="objkey_0">

     <physicalAttribute name="sapBillerDirectObjKey"/>

</attribute>

Appendix 2:

Releasing and Processing Users in the UME

To enable new users to access SAP Biller Direct, you create a reference user (for the authorizations) and specify the business partners. To make these attributes that are specific to SAP Biller Direct visible in the interface of the UME, you release them.

...

1. Choose Visual Admin(J2EE Engine) ? Server ? Services ? Configuration Adapter ? cluster_data ? server ? cfg ? services ? Propertysheet com.sap.security.core.ume.service.

2. Enter the reference user com.sap.security.core.user.refuser:fscm_refuser as the value for ume.admin.addattrs.

Always release the type and key for the business partner:

com.sap.security.core.user.references:objtype_0; com.sap.security.core.user.references:objkey_0;

Separate the values with semicolons. If you use more than one business partner, increment the index of objtype_ and objkey_.

You have released the parameters in the UME, and can now process them in the interface of the UME.

OS Migration questions.

We are planning to migrate our SAP systems as below (Using imp/exp)

Source:

componentVersion/release
OSHP-UX 11.31
Netweaver7.01
Kernel 721ext
DBOracle 11g (11.2.0.3)

Target

componentVersion/release
OSRedhat Linux ES 6
Netweaver7.01
Kernel 721ext
DBOracle 11g (11.2.0.3)

I have two question based on the above scenario.

  1. I was trying to find media of Oracle 11g and Kernel 721ext for our release NW701 for the target install. But I was not able to find that media. Where can i find this media. And If this particular media is not available than how can I proceed to accomplish migration as above.
  2. I noticed that at service marketplace SWPM is available with kernel version 7.20. My question is that. SWPM with this kernel version will support the migration of my system with different kernel release i.e. 721ext (As shown above)?

Regards,

Rizwan.
