kernel upgrade advice on version

Dear Experts

Our SAP ECC (EHP2 FOR SAP ERP 6.0) system are currently on SAP Kernel 720_EXT_REL .

I would like to confirm which Kernel version will be best to upgrade to.

I notice on: 20.05.2015 SAP Kernel 722 Released  (http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-53415)

SAP kernel 722 has been released for customers today. The first shipment (Kernel 722 PL#4) can now be downloaded from SAP Support Portal. With this a new release cycle has been established for 72X kernel versions that can be used with all SAP NetWeaver releases 7.00-7.31:

  • Kernel 720 reached its end of maintenance, no further corrections will be provided for this kernel version
  • Kernel 721 becomes the standard kernel containing only corrections/bug fixes
  • Kernel 722 replaces Kernel 721 in its role as Innovation Kernel. Besides regular corrections, new features/enhancements/improvements will be delivered with Kernel 722.

Also per:  2133909 - SAP Kernel 722 (EXT): General Information and Usage

SAP Kernel 722 (EXT) has been introduced in May 2015 to deliver kernel-based enhancements of functionality in SAP systems based on SAP NetWeaver 7.00-7.31. It replaces Kernel 721 in its role as "Innovation Kernel". New features and enhancements will be delivered with 722 Kernel whereas Kernel 721 becomes the standard kernel.

also: "SAP does not recommend to upgrade to the 722 standard (non-EXT) kernel from 720 EXT/721 EXT kernel versions although this may be technically possible"

So we should be upgrading to 721, correct?   To latest Patch Level available which I notice is Patch Level 600, from: (Support Packages and Patches - K"SAP KERNEL 64-BIT UNICODE"SAP KERNEL 7.21 EXT 64-BIT UC)

If so, when should upgrade to 722 then occur ?

Only Patch levels available for download from: (Support Packages and Patches - K"SAP KERNEL 64-BIT UNICODE"SAP KERNEL 7.22 64-BIT UNICODE)

is 4 and 13.

I also notice an issue in 7.22, with only a work around available, in example SAP note: 2232686 - System time displayed in UTC

Thanks for assistance

Kind Regards

Willem
