Background job RDDIMPDP could not be started or terminated abnormally

0

Hi,

System ruuning with very slow performance, also transports taking too long time to import.

I found some errors in SLOG , there are many entries " Background job RDDIMPDP could not be started or terminated abnormally"

As per SAP note 79518 , this standard job is not running properly. Do i need to reschedule this job in client 000 as ddic. Is there any conflict/effect for my prod system to trigger this job?

Do i need to schedule this job in all clients or only 000 is enough ?

Would be possible to change the career from Concur technology to SAP ABAP?

Hi Experts,

Currently I am working in Concur application support for a reputed MNC company since 2013. Initially I have trained in SAP ABAP as a fresher when I was joining but didn't get chance to work in any abap implementation project till now.

I wanted to change my career from Concur to SAP side. Can you please let me know that how to change myself to technical side? Also planning to learn SAP BW so give some input on how to start the sap BW ?

Thanks in advance.

Issue with third party connectivity

Hi Experts,

I have a proxy to webservice asynchronous scenario, wherein, am using axis receiver soap adapter in order to use SOAP1.2 version.

The third party being external to our network, firewall team has opened secure port connection and the respective certificates are also installed.

For the first time, when a test data was triggered from development system, the connection was succesful and the data sent was seen in the third party server.

Later, when another tests are being done,PI channel shows that the message has been succesfully delivered, but no data is being seen in the partner server, though no changes have been made in PI or in the third party system.

Can you please suggest something in order to get the root cause of this issue.

j2ee Parameters in ABAP Stack

0
0

Hello,

some time ago, we had a number of double stack installations. Now most of These systems are single stack abap, either by spliiting double stack to single stacks or by upgrading the system so the java stack is not nessessary anymore.

But I am still finding j2ee-Parameters in the DEFAULT.PFL, for example:

j2ee/dbtype = sap

j2ee/dbname = <SID>

j2ee/dbhost = <SID>

j2ee/dbadminurl = http://<SID>:9999/webdbm?Server=<SID>&Database=<SID>&User=control

Is this nessessary or can I delete these parameters?

Best regards

Andreas

User Copy User incl. Passwords as hash

Hello,

we have to copy all existing users from one UME system to another including the passwords.

I have tried to use the java UME interface, which allows me to read the j_password as a hash value e.g.

String pwd = userAccountSystem1.getAttribute("com.sap.security.core.usermanagement", "j_password" )[0];

which returns me an hash value like

{SSHA}FzQ4Cw3g0qD0/3SRyeaDVKSONIp0aeS8nlA=

but whenever i try to set this hash value within the new UME system using the same interface like

userAccountSystem2.setAttribute( "com.sap.security.core.usermanagement", "j_password", new String[]{pwd} );

then this actually does not really work. If I try to re-read the just set value, then the returned value is

{SSHA}rUR/RNgKMXbDH0Scgy+hkEZWZiF1waVJLdQ=

Is there somehow a way to set the hash code using the UME java interface?

Any recommendation how users can be copied including the passwords (just the hash codes, not the readable password)

Thank you for your help,

Andreas

Hi guys,

I have an issue right now , my team wants to access HTTP and HTTPS version as well and here is the challenge.

The pictures which must be in the website can't be loaded in the HTTP version of the site...seems like by default it is taking the https version ,

So my question is where and what are the pentameters that are required to be changed accordingly.

Gurus -

I have finally managed to install the trail version of SAP 7.0 in my home PC running on XP Home

I am only able to access the system from my home network.  When I am outside of the network am not able to access it.  I think I have to configure some port forwarding stuff in my home wireless router.

Any pointers?

Hi Experts,

Sessions are active even after user  logs off the system. The user logged off as SHOPPER10A almost 20 minutes back. User is still showing as logged in AL08 logs.

This will cause issues for users when they log back in again. It will show error in portal and they will not be able to process the shopping carts

Can you please let me know how to get them logged off once they have exited their session? Greatly appreciate your help!

OSDB Migration for SAP PI with SLD

Hello Gurus

My client has a requirement to migrate their SAP PI 7.1 system to new hardware (Endian Change). Their SLD resides on the PI Production server

The host name will change as part of this migration

Now my question is :

  • Is it advisable to migrate the SLD to the new host in advance or
  • Will the Export/Import migrate the SLD as well

Can someone shed any light on the post steps or point me to any SLD post migration guide

Thanks

Information on SAP kernel and Upgrade

0
0

SAP Kernel

Kernel upgrade is a keen and effective process to keep SAP system health in a high.

As part of Basis, we all come across kernel upgrade. I would like to share my experience in a kernel upgrade, process.

In general, what is Kernel?

In computing, the kernel is a computer program that manages I/O (input/output) requests from software, and translates them into data processing instructions for the central processing unit and other electronic components of a computer. The kernel is a fundamental part of a modern computer's operating system.

kernel_what is.jpg

Now how we relate a kernel to SAP:

Running Applications: All ABAP applications run on software processors (virtual machines) within this component.

User and process administration: This component is responsible for the tasks that usually belong to an operating system.

Database access: Each NetWeaver AS ABAP is linked to a database system, consisting of a database management system (DBMS) and the database itself.

Communication: ABAP applications can communicate both with other SAP Systems and with external systems.

relate.jpg

Downloads:

Types of Kernel are available in service market place.

  • 32/64 bit Unicode & extended
  • 32/64 non Unicode systems & extended

By executing disp+work in a cmd line of OS level we can easily get the kernel version, release, Unicode or non Unicode, real or extended. We need to log as a SIDADM or navigate to existing kernel directory to get this information.

Need to download the exact kernel as per:

  • Operating system
  • Unicode/Non Unicode
  • Real/extended

Kernel files are divided in to 2 parts:

  • Kernel Part I (database independent)
  • Kernel Part II (database specific)

Before Kernel Upgrade:

kernel_before.jpg

In the above example: We need to Upgrade N-1. ( N is the latest version)

SAP kernel 7.21 64 BIT Unicode files / patch 402 Part 1 and Part 2, once we downloaded the file we can extract.

Process:

STOPSAP and stop services – disable SAP services before we implement a new kernel.

Reason behind is few files and executables are responsible to start and run SAP application server and few executables are responsible to write logs or update. If we try to replace SAP kernel on fly it may prompt an error file in use.

We have caused a corruption in the kernel directory; new files might be overwritten already.  It’s a severe error that we leave a corrupted kernel directory. Few scenarios we may need to restart SAP or if any cause of system shutdown. SAP may through some errors while starting up back when it has a corrupted kernel directory.

Recommended process to STOP SAP, stop SAP services and disable SAP services in services.msc.

Take a back up of existing kernel directory and keep in a safe place. Just in case if we need to revert back to older kernel

Replace existing kernel directory with a new kernel files.

Kernel directory will be located in

\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMDXX

After implementing new kernel we can start SAP

To verify kernel use same CMD: disp+work

kernel_after.jpg

Tricky Part:

After replacing kernel if it’s failed to start SAP service:

  • Check the kernel file whether we have downloaded the appropriate one if there is a mismatch in Unicode to non Unicode.
  • Replace with old back up file by renaming back to same before; do not try to copy and paste again with kernel directory as of few files might have been overwritten already.
  • If we still have error in starting SAP. We can try to replace with dev/Qas/prd kernel in the same landscape for time being.

Conclusion:

Replacing kernel upgrade is a small effort but it’s important one to keep system up and running in a stabilized manner. Though we get a minimal down time to upgrade kernel, utilize time by preparing it before  with guidelines and read kernel upgrade Note first and follow it up for a smoother implementation of new kernel.

Question about SAP Dialog work process and PRIV mode

0
0

Hi experts,

I have a question about NetWeaver AS ABAP Diaglog work process, according to SAP documents, that one dialog work process can process one transaction step at once, that means if work process 01 is working with user01, then user02 cannot use this work process. When the work process enters PRIV mode (heap memory allocated), no other user can access this process.

My question is, what's the different between these two scenarios? Either way the work process cannot handle other user request at the given time.

As long as heap memory released, the work process is free again, can anyone please explain me the details?

Thanks,

Michael

Deployment of external WAR/EAR to AS Java 7.4 very slow

Hi Experts,

I am trying to deploy a UI5 application developed in Eclipse with the UI5 Tools plugin to an NW AS Java.

I am using Eclipse Luna 4.4.2 and the UI5 Tools plugin version 1.28.5 for my UI5 development. The AS Java I want to deploy it to is version 7.40.3301. I am trying to use NWDS with the version 7.3 EHP 1 SP 13 PAT0000 for the deployment.

My problem is that the deployment process takes very long, over an hour.

To do the deployment, I took the following steps:

  • Export the UI5 application once as a WAR file, once wrapped in an EAR from Eclipse.
  • Use  the Deployment view to import either the WAR file or the EAR file:

    Deployment.png
  • Set up the deployment like this:
    • Update deployed archives with any version
    • Stop when the first error occurs
    • Bulk (stop all, start all in group)
  • Start the deployment using the "Deploy" button next to "Import Java EE Archive" button in the toolbar.

No matter whether I use the WAR file or the EAR, the deployment will get stuck in the status "Life cycle strategy: bulk deploy strategy":

Edit: After waiting for over an hour, the deployment actually did finish successfully. Waiting that long for each deployment is not really a solution, however.

status.png

Deploying regular DCs that have been created in NWDS works fine, so I assume that the connection should not be the issue.

Any idea what might cause this issue or how to resolve it? Is there a way to speed up the process?

Hello!

I`m searching for a solution and I hope for help.

I want to know which SAP instances are running on a Server.

Of cause I can use a "ps -ef | grep sapstart", but there
should be a sap buildin toolkit for such a task.

Thanks for your help.

j2ee Parameters in ABAP Stack

0
0

Hello,

some time ago, we had a number of double stack installations. Now most of These systems are single stack abap, either by spliiting double stack to single stacks or by upgrading the system so the java stack is not nessessary anymore.

But I am still finding j2ee-Parameters in the DEFAULT.PFL, for example:

j2ee/dbtype = sap

j2ee/dbname = <SID>

j2ee/dbhost = <SID>

j2ee/dbadminurl = http://<SID>:9999/webdbm?Server=<SID>&Database=<SID>&User=control

Is this nessessary or can I delete these parameters?

Best regards

Andreas

Hi,

We have just installed SAP Solution Manager 7.1 using SWPM 1.0 SP08. The installation
scenario is Distributed, HA. ASCS, SCS, ERS ( Abap ), ERS ( Java ) and DB
instance are installed at server: sapprddb ( sapprddb1, -2 ), AIX 6.1. Central
Instance ( PI ) is installed at server:smprdapp1, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server
11.

The installation completes successfully for all instances.

http://smprdapp1:50000 and Gui Logon works fine.

All instances except for Central Instance ( PI ) stops and start successfully.

Central Instance ( PI ) cannot be restarted. When starting the instance ( startsap ) startsap.trc shows: “DB_LOCAL=0  DB_RUNNING=0  hasABAP=1  hasJava=0  hasSpecial=0  TASK=ALL  Database db must be started first  Log on to remote server and start database Exit
code 6”.

“R3trans –d” at database server sapprddb1 completes successfully: “ This is R3trans version
6.24 (release 721 - 01.04.15 - 20:15:04).unicode enabled version R3trans
finished (0000). sapprddb1:psmadm 2>

“R3trans –d” at Central Instance/Application server seems as from trans.log and output to
complete successfully “R3trans finished (0000)” BUT in output output “R3trans
finished (0000)”  follows by “Caught
signal 11 SIGSEGV (SEGV_MAPERR) Address not mapped to object” ref paste in
below,

“R3trans -d
