Multiple BW connection - Plan to export/import RSBASIDOC table

0
0

Hi All,

I'm experiencing an issue at the moment as per below cronology:

- Did client copy from AB7 to UB7 (BW system) and A16 to U16 (ERP system)

- Made BW connection between UB7 and U16 with IDoc type ZSPC004 via RSA1 restore

- Did client copy from AB7 to MB7

- Made BW connection between MB7 and U16 with IDoc type ZSPC004 via RSA1 restore

After I executed 4th step, I had an issue with U16 and UB7 connection due to the Idoc type in U16 was replaced by connection between MB7 and U16. Then we had to make some manual creations for iDoc type, partner profile, and re-connect the system manually for the impacted system.

Understand if there is SAP Note to export all of the BW objects from source system and import it into the target system. But as we have a lot of BW objects to be converted, hence we did do this way.

Other than the above problem, our BW system is also connected to multiple system and for each system refrehs we must do manual reconnection, which is quite manual way, to open the client, and re-run the restore, especially if the systems blong to another party so we must arrange acoordingly.

We would like to check with you, whether is there any other workaround on this? Such as exporting RSBASIDOC table before the refresh and importing it as part of system refresh post step. Have anyone tried it before and did it work?

Appreciate for your feedback and suggestion.

Thanks and Regards.

Reg. sapcontrol's OSExecute function

0
0

Hi All,

We're planning to use "OSExecute" function and try to run some commands on SAP system.

The "OSExecute" function seems to execute the command successfully, but output of the command which was executed is not displayed correctly.

Here is the OSExecute command and output:

********

[root@AAA ~]# pwd

/root

[root@AAA ~]# /usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/sapcontrol -nr 00 -function OSExecute "pwd" 0 30

09.09.2014 23:49:07

OSExecute

OK

exitcode, pid, lines

2, 52098

[root@AAA ~]#

***********

Looking at the above command output:

1) I was thinking the "lines" column should display the output of the pwd command, which is "/root". But, "/root" is not dispalyed in command output.  Not sure why?

2) I couldn't find in the SAP document(/internet) what the "exitcode" 2 indicates.

3) I believe this is not related to user privileges.

The issue seems to be only with "OSExecute" function of sapcontrol.

As an additional information, we're able to execute other functions of "sapcontrol". Please find the below command output:

*****

# /usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/sapcontrol -nr 00 -function GetProcessList

09.09.2014 23:30:57

GetProcessList

OK

name, description, dispstatus, textstatus, starttime, elapsedtime, pid

igswd_mt, IGS Watchdog, GREEN, Running, 2014 09 08 23:41:27, 23:49:30, 28475

If you've any idea on "OSExecute" function , please let me know. Greatly appreciated.

buffer table pool performance with return code 64 in ST05

Hey guys,I had been meeting an issue causing poor Performance in my SAP system.For a full buffered table,I did trace it with ST12 and ST05,I found it's perfectly buffered in AS(as blue background entries in ST05 tracelist),but there were entries with high 'duration' and return code '64'(I know that's mean no records found),instead,the return code '0' entries worked fine,the duration  was pretty low.I had learned from documents of IBM/SAP(we're running with DB2 on AIX) that if you are just checking the exists of some records of certain table(access frequently),you may buffer them in AS,for now it seems to be going into opposite direction,that does  make sense with long time 'duration'.Detailed information seen the attachments.

Add Usage Type

Hi !

We have an Netweaver 7.4 Java stack with Usage Type EP installed.

To this, we wish to add usage types: SRM Java & BI Java.

As per the SUM guide, this is possible using the Ehp option in MOPZ.

I tried maintaining the Product version as EHP3 for SRM in SMSY, but the Usage list that appears in MOPZ for the EP system, still does not show SRM Java components.....(BI java is part of the list, being a Netweaver technical usage)...

Please advise if maybe I'm going about this the wrong way...or another way to add these UT's (especially the SRM ones).

Thanks a lot !

SAP JVM 4.1 Switch Procedure

1. SAP JVM as replacements for Partner JDKs 1.4.2

SAP developed its own Java Virtual Machine (JVM) 1.4.2, named SAP JVM 4 in order to ensure the guaranteed support for SAP Web Application Server 6.40 and SAP NetWeaver 7.0 systems

The advantages of the SAP JVM 4 for customers are:

  1. The SAP JVM maintenance period is aligned with the maintenance period of SAP products running on SAP JVM.
  2. Problem analysis tools like the SAP JVM Profiler and the SAP Memory Analyzer is supported by SAP JVM 4.
  3. The SAP JVM 4 includes supportability enhancements known from SAP JVM 5.1 and 6.1.
  4. SAP JVM 4 is the standard JDK included in Enhancement Package 3 for NetWeaver 7.0.
  5. Appropriate performance for SAP applications, comparable to currently used vendor JDKs.

2. Recommendation on when toswitch to the SAP JVM

Starting October 1st 2012, the SAP JVM 4 is the only supported option. Therefore, please switch to SAP JVM 4 now as the partner JDKs are not supported anymore.

3.  Downloading the Standard Installation Guide

You can download the standard installation guide for your operating system from the http://service.sap.com/instguides under “SAP JVM Switch Tool”.
Please go through the installation guide before performing the SAPJVM switch. However the steps provded in this document are sufficient.

4. SAP JVM Compatibility

The SAP JVM 4 was released for the respective operating system platforms starting beginning in May 2011The following operating system platforms are available:

  1. Windows (all processor types = x86_32, x86_64, IA64)
  2. Solaris (all processor types = SPARC64, x86_64)
  3. Linux (x86_32, x86_64, IA64, zSeries, Power)
  4. HP-UX (all Processor types = PA-RISC64, IA64)
  5. AIX
  6. IBM

The SAP JVM 4 is certified for all
Operating System platforms supported by SAP for the appropriate applications and
has comparable performance with the 3rd party vendor JVM in standardized
benchmarks.

5. SAP JVM installation prerequisites

The SAP JVM requires specific operating system versions, additional libraries and library patches.

The list of minimum requirements for the operating system versions. Required additional libraries and library patches are listed in the Note 1367498.

Usually it has been observed if you keep updating your OS from time to time, then the requirements suggested in thenote would be met and no extra action is required. However its recommended to check once before you start.

6. Downloading SAP JVM Switch Tool and SAPJVM 4

Following two software archives are required for the switch to the SAP JVM 4:

SAPJVMSWITCH<version>.SAR

SAPJVM4<version>.SAR

These can be downloaded from Service Market Place. How to unzip and store these files, has been shown in the screenshots below

a. SAPJVM Switch Tool: To download follow the below link

http://service.sap.com/swdc

Support Packages and Patches -> My Company’s Application Components -> Complimentary Software -> SAP JVM 4.1 Switch Tool

SAPJVMSWITCH<version>.SAR

b.SAPJVM 4.1 : To download follow the below link

http://service.sap.com/swdc

Support Packages and Patches -> My Company’s Application Components -> Complimentary Software-> SAPJVM 4.1

SAPJVM<version>.SAR

7. Performing the SAPJVM switching:

Perform the below steps in every application server Instance host of your system:
1. Make a new directory in the local file system of the host of SAP instance and put the two SAR files SAPJVMSWITCH<version>.SAR  and SAPJVM<version>.SAR
2. Extract the SAPJVMSWITCH<version>.SAR using SAPCAR and do not unpack the SAPJVM<version>.SAR
3. Start the sapinst that is extracted from the SAPJVMSWITCH<version>.SAR file and follow the below steps:

7.1 Checking old JVM environment variable

Before you start installation with sapinst, check the old/existing JVM environment variable

Untitled2.jpg

7.2 Extracting JVM Files

Before you start installation with sapinst, check
Create folder named SAPJVM4.1 in /usr/sap/<SID> which should contain these two JVM files as shown below.
Only unpack SAPJVMSWITCH file.

Untitled3.jpg

7.3 Starting SAPINST (with screenshots)

Execute the ./sapinst to start the setup of SAPJVM

Untitled4.jpg

Select the path for profile directory above

The switch from JDK to SAP JVM is completed above.
Click OK

8. Follow up activities:

1. Close all the terminal sessions which you opened for SAP system
2. Login again through PUTTY as SIDADM and password
3. Once you login, execute ‘env’ command to check the environment variable for JAVA_HOME, you would find that it has been appropriately set to new path of SAP JVM (shown below)

Untitled14.jpg

The path for JAVA_HOME has been changed above

You can also check with command ‘java –fullversion’

Here the command shows SAPJVM4 -Patch43 is installed on the system.

This is Linux OS

Untitled15.jpg

This completed the process of updating SAP JVM 4.1.

Detach ERP from CRM after copy

0
0

Hi experts,

One of our customers has a 3-level-system architecture (P, Q, D) for ERP and a 2-level-system architecture for CRM(P and D)

ERP P --> CRM P

ERP Q --> -

ERP D --> CRM D

The ERP Q is not attached to any CRM System.

Now we have done the system copy from ERP P to ERP Q. The RFC-Destination has been deleted accordingly, to prevent ERP Q to send data to CRM P.

But how can we completely detach the ERP Q from CRM P?

My preferred procedure would be:

  1. Run report mentioned in Note 564435 and do all manual steps (Except TX BDLS)
  2. Delete CRM P logical system in BD54

Do i miss something out?

Thanks in advance!

Wladimir

Need Advices from Everyone

Hi Everyone,

I kinda need some advice on how to perform a fresh installation of SAP ECC 6 latest enhancement pack 7 and SAP Netweaver 7.4.

Currently our landscape is using SOLMAN 7.1.

I've tried to read the master installation guide but seems it still hard for me to digest as of now hence I'm deciding to ask here.

1. I have doubt on which one to perform on the installation first, whether Netweaver 7.4 first or SAP ECC 6.0? I read ECC 6.0 is using Netweaver as the platform so I need to install NW 7.4 first?

2. how do I add the ECC 6.0 to SOLMAN? do I need to add in SOLMAN before the installation first or the way around?

would someone enlighten me on my enquiries,

Thank you for all your guidance,

Regards,

Ura

How to download SPS without SolMan

Hi all,

I need to patch a SAP PO 7.31 SPS3 to SPS13.

Unfortunately it is a standalone sandbox system, where no SolMan is available.

I need to download the SPS13 but I'm unable to do so.

Even if I wanted to do that manually, I don't know which components should be downloaded.

Can anyone please assist on how to download the full SPS?

Thanks regards

STMS - what controls the target client being "automatically" populated in import buffer?

0
0

Hi Folks - we have an NW731 ABAP system w/ several SID's:  LH2 (dev) -> LH5 (test) -> LH1 (prod)

When releasing the LH2K* transport (based on the way we have the STMS graphic/layers configured) it automatically adds the transport to the import buffer on LH5 system.  This is great and what we want.  However, recently we have had issue come up where it's not automatically populating the target client field there (so means no truck icons @ the top, and means users don't like it like this!).  We know one can easily set the target client (Edit -> Set Target Client) and get the truck icons back....but again, users don't like having to do that extra step.

We also, in same transport domain, have another alternate path configured w/ these SID's:  LH3 (dev) -> LH7 (test) -> LH1 (prod)..............

On this alternate path when we release the LH3K* transport it automatically gets added to LH7 import buffer AND the target client is getting populated in that screen.  So this much works exactly like users want.

The only difference between the config in the 2 paths is related to a Charms rollout we are working on....where we were told by consultant to set as follows:

CTC=1

IMPORT_SINGLE_ONLY=1

IMPORT_SINGLE_STRATEGY=1

NO_IMPORT_ALL=1

WORKFLOW_STRATEGY=0

So the LH2/5/1 and LH3 sid's have all these values set as per above.

But LH7 is set slightly different now:

CTC=0

IMPORT_SINGLE_ONLY=1

IMPORT_SINGLE_STRATEGY=1

NO_IMPORT_ALL= <parm not set>

WORKFLOW_STRATEGY=0

QUESTION:  is there a way to leave CTC and NO_IMPORT_ALL set to 1 and still have STMS automatically populate the target client field in LH5 buffer?

Thanks in advance!

TMP folder utilized in usr/sap/trans/tmp directory

Hello SAP Colleagues,

Background: Our usr/sap/trans directory is almost 96% utilized. Because of this, we are looking for folders to cleanup. We have cleaned EPS/in folder, etc. However, we are unsure for this TMP folder. We know that this folder holds the temporary files for logs. Upon searching in knowledge based articles, its the folder where support pack released logs get created. As these are tmp files, we are thinking to clear most of these files in the tmp folder.

My query is this. What would be the impact in clearing the contents of this folder? What are the other logs contained in this folder? As per note 485479, while importing a tp, system reads a file in this directory. Can you guide the impact in clearing the contents of the folder? Thank you!
