I have few queries before proceeding Portal (Java System) refresh from Production to Quality/Target system. one of my colleague has suggested to follow the below steps.

1) Export files need to be taken from source system.

2) Target system database has to be stopped for proceeding the Import

3)Goto Target system-->System Copy-->AS JAVA --> DB Instance Import ( Exported dump will be loaded here )

4)Perform Post-activities

He is saying that Export file will be overwritting the target system content.

** Let me know Is this applicable for all landscape? (Only DB to be stopped before loading the Export dump)

I am dealing with this problem, and would like to hear your opinions.

Our PI landscape is NW 7.11 sp 6 ABAP and JAVA together. We would like to update the support pack from 06 to 13. So we started to update with MPD system which is our PI Development system.

OS: WIN 2008 R2

DB: MS SQL 2008

Kernel: 720_600

sapjvm_5

Unicode System

We successfully updated ABAP support packages, but problem is occured while updating Java with JSPM. Here is the steps I have been gone through 1 to 9:

1.  I downloaded all support packages from sap.service for NW 7.11 Support Package 13.

2. Opened JSPM and first updated JSPM

3. I chose Single Support Packages

4. It gave error for LM-TOOLS component which says ``REVISE - it does not pass validation check - Unresolved dependencies``

5. I deselect LM-TOOLS package and continued to deploy all other components, and left that component to import later.

6. It completed successfully to import all packages. Then I exited JSPM.

7. When I opened JSPM again, then it gave error that Java AS is not working.

8. When I check SAPMMC Java server is working and all system is green, but some AS Java components are not running like *nwa*.

9. Also it is not possible to reach on web. /nwa is not working it says ``503 service unavailable``

My opinion it seems like the missing item ibctstransportclient and deploying without LM-TOOLS component caused the error. How can I fix this? How can I find the item, and add it to where? and run JSPM while JAVA AS is not available?

I had installed NW 7.4 (ABAP stack) on HANA. In the meantime, was a little errors in database. After resolving these errors, I have created DB backup.

Backup database was created immediately after installation NW ABAP(only standard components). Now, DB backup working but for some reasons I'm not able recover my NW ABAP installation(no backup). Now is possible install NW ABAP based my working hana db backup? Wheter have to fresh install nw? Maybe anyone know more possibilities?

I'm doing the system refresh from ECC PRD to QAS using the hot backup of PRD

Before i start the database restore i was told to do the following step since this ECC has connection with one BW system

Empty the delta queue for all of the connected BW systems.

Execute all delta info packages two times on BW side, to clean up the delta queue in the source system. This is needed, because BDLS cannot rename the still available LUW-s in the qRFC queue.

And the Q11 is now retoreing the backup of the database

1. what will be bad consequence due to not execute this step? any way to makeup this error?

I can't find a clear document.

We have a distributed landscape.

We want to change the OS of the Central Instance from AIX to Linux. The DB Sever remains the same (HANA/Linux).

Is it a heterogenous copy?

The guides etc. don't mention distributed landscapes.

To my mind I'll stop the system, install the new CI, move releveant files (Joblogs etc to the new instance) and restart it. Perhaps a bit postprocessing because of changing hostnames.

So no additional Export/Import will be needed as the DB remains untouched....

When I try log to abap, I got followed error " The UUID daemon (uuidd) is not active (code 30256) " I know that, this problem is known, but I tried also most possibilities, how It have found.

When I checking status of service uuidd, all is running. "uuidd -t" generates uuidd's.

But ABAP still not working. I saw this "Note 1391070 - Linux UUID solutions". Early, before reinstall ABAP everything worked. My DB is HANA. Anyone can help me?

Can any share any best practice they followed with respect to checking transport dependency at a high level.

I know from SE09, we can set dependency from dependency information section under goto. I am looking for a more thorough process here.

Is there way using the project under TMS or is custom code the only way of achieving it. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have a PI 7.4 Java only system with the SCS on server cnumw1cq and Java instance on server cnumw1aq. There is a gateway on cnumw1cq, but not server cnumw1aq.

I'm seeing these errors on server cnumw1aq

There is no gateway on cnumw1aq which is why this error is occurring I assume. Not sure where the config for this is coming from. Any ideas?

Hello Gurus - Does anyone out there uses the "is/use_uds = 0" parameter in any of your SAP instance? From SAP's documentation this parameter is only for Linux OS, and for AIX this parameter should be set to 0 (we are using AIX). We have had a situation in one of our dialog instance where we exhausted the number of network socket connections, particularly sapstream3303 gateway conections.  SAP support has recomended a solution describe in SAP note 488036, basically setting is/use_uds = 0 (default value = 1). Does anyone out there using is/use_uds = 0 in an AIX environment? If so, did you notice any performance improvement or did the new parameter value resolved the issue ?

Just i want to know whether SAP Web dispatcher does it supports below scenario or not,if Yes can you please explain how it is and what i have to do in my landscape.

Scenario :      

when user access URL https from mobile or Desktop , web dispatcher should not issue certificate rather we need to generate public certificate using web dispatcher and we need to import this certificate into devices.Now devices with this certificate should access web dispatcher. So do we have a way to generate public certificate to import in mobiles and laptop using web dispatcher?

I performed the Install of a SAP WAS EP portal 7.0 on a Windows 2003 server with MSSQL 2005 database .

Everything was running fine until yesterday where the J2ee engine refused to start and jcontrol stopped

at bootstrap with a return eror code 66 . The only maintenance task performed on this server was a J2ee license

install (various time but unsuccesfully because wrong license file)and and the install of the mssql Bacward package

in order to solve backup problem with data protector (SQLServer2005_BC) .

I have tried to , bring offline and online the DB (Ok ), restart the SAPSID_XX service in control pannel and reboot

the server , without results .

Nothing was modified in the bootconfig .

I noticed that when I stopped the DB in SQL studio as DOMAIN\sapsid (Windows integrated) user or SAPSIDuser(Sql auth)

I can take it offline but I'm not able to bring it online back (error cannot open user default database, login failed).

I must log with the user sa to start it fine .But once up ( I can query the db) the J2ee is failing to start again .

I have a requirement to set up ADS in my environment.

My ABAP stack has Netweaver 7.4 SR1 (EHP7), so it is recommended to go for same Netweaver AS Java(standalone) to install ADS.

I have to download and install SAP Netweaver 7.4 SR1 Java which will automatically install ADS component also right, post that I must do the Basic configuration settings to activate ADS in my ABAP stack right?.

Please share your experience.

I have 740 PI system(ABAP+JAVA) currently at SPS01. We need to upgrade it to SPS02.

I upgraded the ABAP part from SPS01 to SPS02 by disabling java part(Making it as pure ABAP system), created xml for ABAP part and upgraded the same with SUM successfully.

Now i activated the java part and now i want to upgrade Java stack also to SPS02.

Is is possible to upgrade Java stack only in Dual Stack(ABAP+JAVA) system separately when ABAP stack is already upgraded??? I have generated xml for java stack but that stack is not working.

As this is 740 system so JSPM is obsolete. Please do not suggest about JSPM.

Is is possible in SUM to upgrade dual stack system as from 740 system there is no concept of Dual Stack(Dual stack split tool is there)? And also please suggest now what should i do as i already upgraded ABAP stack.

I will explain the procedure for changing released TR into unrelased TR. i.e; modifiable state. There is no option given explicitly for chaning the released TR into unreleased TR in STMS or SE01 Transactions. we have to follow the below steps.

1. Go to SE38

2. execute the report RDDIT076

3. now, we will get the below screen which asks for TR/Tasks . give the released TR number and execute (F8)

4. Once executed, you will get the below window,

5. first we need to change the task to unreleased. double click on the task number. now, click on the pencil button to enter edit mode.then click on input help on the filed "Status"

6. change the status from "R" to "D" and save

7. now repeat the steps 5 and 6 for Transport request. finally the status column should be in "D" as shown in below.

8. now goto SE01 or SE09, type the TR number and check. it will be in modifiable state.
