What is the recommended shell to work as sidadm, even though the default shell is C shell. I feel ksh is much better in terms of working with the cmd interpreter (set -o vi), is there any similar way to set the editor for C shell ( I tried with setenv EDITOR vi)?, but it doesn't really give me the way to edit the cmd's as in bash or korn (like edit the cmd's or toggle through previous cmd's etc..).

Dear SAP Basis Gurus and SAP Abap Gurus,

I am executing a sap report to create business partner in SAP CRM system. Now i have used parallel processing methodology in this report for business partner creation.

This report works fine with 80% of total dialogue processors in the system(quality/development/testing sap servers) used with multiple batch jobs in parallel (example if total dialogue processes in system is 100 then i schedule this report with 10 batch jobs and 8 dialogue processor per batch job).

But in production system we have 12 application servers with (150 dialogue processors, 20 update 1, 10 update 2 and 30 batch processes) per application server. So total resource is

dialogue processor : 1800

update 1: 240

update 2 : 120

batch jobs available: 360

Now i am scheduling the business partner creation report with 84 batch jobs and assigned 17 dialogue processor per batch job.

But only 7-8 jobs are remaining active after scheduling and updating the database creating customer and rest of the jobs are finished in 1 second without updating anything (note: there is nothing wrong with data creation as we write application log for error while data creation and nothing has come up in application log). Now i reprocesses the rest of the batch jobs which completed in 1 second earlier and didn't update, again 7-8 jobs are remaining active and creating business partner and rest of them are finished in 1 second and so on.

This report is working fine in other sap systems like quality/development/testing, and this problem is only happening in production.

I am not at all familiar with basis configurations, So kindly help me out with this issue.

I am trying to install the SneakPeak Netweaver system on a windowsXP.  I passed several steps in 45 minuts, when it got to jload process, it has been running for about 12 hours, and it is still running.

I was able to confirm there are active java processes running, but not able to verify if the load process is doing something.  There is no loggging in jload.log file for more than 10 hours?

Any thougts or suggestion?

I found many information and documents for the network requirements of the SAP GUI! For Example:

Note 62418 - Network Load of SAPGUI Frontend Communication

Note 679918 - The front-end network time

Note 578118 - Long response times on the SAP GUI

Also the latest "Front-End Network Requirements for SAP Business Solutions" is very interesting for the SAP GUI. But what about ABAP Webdynpro? Are there also some Network requirement   or a  formula to calculate Bandwidth Requirements for webdynpro?

And what about printing? Are there also some information for the Network sizing?

What about you experience in that case?

I have 3 clients in my system and I want to each one of them to have inbound email capability through SMTP. I have created three virtual hosts and assigned them correctly in SICF. I have also created three system users, on each client (1,2, and 3 for simplicity's sake).

However, when I go into SICF, say for client 2, my default user is marked as being the user from client 1. Why is this defaulted like this? Both client 1 and client 2 users have the same user name. Can I just manually change the client number and assume that it will not overwrite any back-end configuration for the user?

I am seeing this behavior in SICF -> SAPCONNECT service -> Logon Data Tab. Client is listed as 1 even though I am in client 2!

Ok guys first system in landscape new NW7.5 system installed.

It starts and before any configuration is done we should upgrade to the two Upgrade packages.

Went to use SUM to update to the packages 1 and 2 via new SUM UI5

NO SOLMAN system yet. any way to get the the XML files SUM is looking for?

Linux SYBASE ASE landscape.

The packages have MID.XML files that other say they needed but SUM complains when I give it those locations.

I have done like other suggested part 1 in a dir part 2 in separate dir.

I'd like to configure a SAP Web Dispatcher for a SAP NW AS ABAP with End-to-End-SSL scenario, my question is Can I use a Self-signed certificate for NW AS ABAP and a signed one from a CA for the Web Dispatcher? Or both have to be signed from a CA? Have you ever try that?

When I was configuring Analysis Path Framework, technical roles - SAP_APF_DT_TC_A cannot be found, then tried to intall UISAFND1  on S/4 HANA on premise 1511, error occurs: OCS package: SAPK-100AGINUISAFND1 does not match the current software component vector.

Could anyone help me out?

I have configured soamanager in erp with ip address 10.10.10.xx but this server is hosting (where our provider) but when i try to open soamanager transaction when i´m in the office I can´t, because the ip address is lan, but  the erp open through sap router.

Someone knows if I most configure before sap webdispatcher?

I used the tcode QL11 to transport the datas, but did not work.

I first time post one query to the Basis Experts, hope you will understand it and support me.

We have implement SAP at client X, and after that in process of implement the standard SAP at client Y, both are the sister concern companies.

For building the Client Production system our Basis team copy the client X QAS system on client Y PRD, with out customization of client X and transnational data.

But with all the Z reports, enhancement/modifications.

I don't feel this is a right practice.

I ask to the gurus to share there expertise on this, or any SAP note that support me in this regard.

I feel my self that because of this system might have the inconsistency etc...

Looking for the gurus feedback.

Please help me out with this.

While launching configtool, it is throwing error when it is attempting to connect to DB.

A pop-up box comes with message "User ID is not known". When i click ok, it will show the user id and password fields in the pop-up.

In the user id "SAP<SID>DB"user is listed, and a blank field in password.

When i click cancel in the pop-up, another pop-up shows with error "Error occured while working with configuration (Scanning). Error while connecting to DB".

I have checked in secure store whether user ID is listed there or not, and user iD exists there and also password.

Dont know what is the problem. Please help me out.

I already checked note 1313644 but it did not help me out. 

1. i can see from MMC,  msg_server, enserver, dispatcher, server0 are all green, but SDM server is stopped.

2. I can start SDM server by the command below

sdm.sh jstartup mode=integrated

StartServer.sh

3. no matter SDM started or stopped,  portal still not available.

  SAP NetWeaver AS Java is starting...

If this state does not change within a few minutes,

5. I checked the log dev_server0, dev_control, dev_dispatcher. there are no obvious errors.

Could you please advise what else should i check?
